The game Kings of Soccer allows players to steer some of Europe’s top clubs to victory in exciting Player versus Player (PVP) matches using superstar footballers including Neymar, Ronaldo and Messi.

Kings of Soccer was originally released worldwide on April 19 and even though the planned social media marketing campaign hasn’t been launched yet, the game has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times and has received four-star ratings on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Hugo Games CEO Henrik Nielsen believes the game is now fine-tuned enough and that it’s time to activate the campaign, which will be boosted by the social media of the clubs in the game.

“I’m very satisfied that we now are able to launch the important update to Kings of Soccer,” says Henrik Nielsen. “We believe, that it’s time to activate the planned marketing campaign where we will take advantage of the signed clubs’ social media platforms. Using the combined strength of the soccer clubs’ social media, we estimate that the game has the potential to reach 400 million soccer fans around the world.”

Kings of Soccer hosts some of the world’s greatest soccer clubs. So far, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Dortmund, Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus, AS Roma, FC Porto and Benfica have been signed to feature in the game. Roma, the next club to go live in the game, is expected to be introduced to the game on October 22nd. Portuguese Benfica will be introduced in November with more top clubs to follow soon after.

The reason why the planned marketing campaign hasn’t been executed yet, is that the Hugo Games management wasn’t satisfied with the retention rate and monetization level delivered by the game after the April launch. There were too many bugs. The Player Versus Player functionality wasn’t performing as planned, among other things.

These bugs are now fixed, and the Hugo Games management is now confident that Kings of Soccer is ready for kickoff and that the game will perform as anticipated.
